unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

I headed there this morning around 5am it seemed like a good spot to try my first time at fall trout. Anyway it started out fine I guess I lost a fish I think a small brown maybe 6 or 7 pounds it got hooked up on a log and I lost the fish and the j-13. Then after that like nothing for a few hours. Then I came upon a bunch of brown and I think Rainbow but they where not two interested in anything spoons, J-13, jigs worms/minnows, Roe. as I was casting I snagged a big salmon I didn't see him until he was hooked, the thing was gross in the end he got away but he was pretty rotten and I didn't really want to touch him anyway. But then I was getting ready to go and some guys told me you are not allowed to fish from shore only from a boat. On my way back to the car I saw the conservation officer lucky for me he was not around when was fishing.

Anyway I am not sure how you guys catch these things if anyone wants to show me the ropes and let me tagged along it would be appreciated .

sorry i find that funny.

pedro actually scouts the rivers he will literally walked the entire river and try.

also the conditions werent very good at the bronte. super clear, alot of low spots. spooked fish. and most of the trout and salmon are blasting thier way up.

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

Pedro's guidance huh? :( I thought people said you shouldn't take my advice :(

A small k-5 or k-7 kwikfish in silver is my favorite lure...

The best situation with lures I had was being directly upstream of a fish and holding the lure right in front of them until they snap at it...(excellent on redds, but don't tell anyone I told you  ) Other then that I swing the lure in pools and hope a bow wants it.... :(

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

Haha and my point exactly..I've started doing that too..instead of just assuming what looks good..I'm beginning to examine the river and looks for the best spot's..I'm 24 and I've been fishing since i was 5..this year is the first year I've ventured into the river's..my god what a different world..it's like taking a funny car drag racer and putting him in a formula one car..if you guys are ever up for showing a river newb the rope's i'll jump at the chance..cause the lackage of fish being caught is making me want to return to my comfortable lake fishing ways ..

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

this is my second year. the only help i got was my float setup and that its.

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

BTW did I ever tell you guys how much I suck at float fishing lol

I hope to get better each time I go out, but it's hard finding that specific lure....

If anyone sees a dead bow at bronte with a gold kwikfish in it's mouth you can blame it on me  Once I lost it I ran through the pool trying to get the fish LOL....I only got wet up to my chest

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

lol to each their own....one guy likes getting wet for snagged salmon and another for bows lol I just hope it doesn`t make me an idiot too LOL

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

no the guy had a perfect setup. but like mine i had six pounds. but he was so afraid of the six pound line. he followed it and then fell into a REALLY REALLY deep pool that went all the way to his neck. Thank god he was 6'

if it was me or exo0r then we would have drowned

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

yeah thats how big of an idiot he was.

when you snag a salmon you have to follow it down stream. theres no control.

i know this because i use to do it last year thinking it was the only way to catch them.

Do k-5 or k-7 kwikfish sink? how do you keep it in front up them? if it sinks?

with the k-9x u don't need weight, but the smaller sizes do

Re: unpleasant Day at bronte creek!!!!

I got wet too today, but managed to catch the bow, 13.5 lb! I had left the net in the car so once the fish reached the bank, I was afraidn I am gonna loose it on my 6 lb (i think I would with that fish) so had to grab it hard and pull it out, that made me all wet

Hey all,
Planning on heading up to Bronte first thing tomorrow morning for the first time.
Any hints on good spots/bait that's been landing those monsters I see in this post?
Probably going to start at Petro Canada Park and go from there.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, it's been a dry fall fishing season.
Thanks guys, good luck!
