I was wondering if anyone here can help me with this issue. I recently purchased a 8 foot trolling rod with up to 30lbs test but I want to use a spinning reel on it. The guides are supposed to face up and only conventional reels should be used with (according to the tackle store worker). What if I put a spinning reel on it and use it while the guides are facing down? Will that break my new rod if I land a heavy fish? I know this may sound like a funny question but I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about this. Thanks.
