My friend and me like to fish with downriggers sometime's and we were thinking of using some Power Pro 20 LB Braided Line for leader's we use a 20 Pound on the real's and we fish Salmon and Rainbow.

Here's the thing my friend is a bit on the old school side of thing's and at one time all he used was Royal Bonnyl Fishing line because back in the day it was the smallest line from what he say's and he always caught fish on it where ever he went but he could never catch Rainbow or Salmonbut he caught everything else on it,so he got asking other fishermen what he was doing wrong and they all said it was the Royal Bonnyl Line because it was brown and from what my friend say's that's the olny colour it came in.

So here's what I want to know we Fish Owen Sound for Salmon and Rainbow a lot and the Power Pro line is Green and he think's the fish will see it to easily because it is not clear, but I thought the braided stuff was better because it is so small,is Green the right colour or should I use another colour.

The other thing I was wondering with the Spectra Lines do you need to use Super Glue on them just like the old Stren Kevlar line,I have never used Spetra line before and I thought would use it as a leader for Pike and Musky and also thought why not for downrigging as well.

Don't bother using braid unless you like catching less fish, use fluorocarbon for leaders for salmon and rainbows, 30lb and 40lb is the norm especially if you are fishing Gbay where the water can be gin clear sometimes. As for musky leader don't use anything less than 100lb, it may seem like overkill but they can bite through less easily. You can also use titanium leaders for musky as well but I don't like them because the can cut the fish.

Ok thank's for the help guys I will pick up some Fluorocarbon and use it as a leader.

What's the best knot to use to join Mono to Fluoro a uni to uni splice knot.

blood knot or uni to uni. Uni to Uni is good for 40 lb Fluorocarbon or less. Some people will use a swivel for the connection as well.
