I heard something today and went and verified it at lunch. One of my dogs is hypo-thyroid and takes a pill for it every day. It is costing us over $200 every 3 months. I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and verified that YES, they WILL fill vet prescriptions if they can. Even if they don't have it on site, they can check with their suppliers and order it if they carry it.

Worth it? Well, the same pills that we pay over $200 every 3 months....

$17.85 !!!!!!! and that INCLUDES a $12 dispensing fee!! So from Wally World $10???

Oh...and for all the money that I just saved people....lol...I like Single Malt Scotch!!!

Cheers,
Cameron

I work in the animal care industry and that's definitely a closely-guarded secret. Just ensure the pharmacist knows it's for a dog, not a human. But they're probably less likely to screw up dosage then the 18 y/o assistant at the animal hospital (nothing against them though, I was one once myself). Depending on how bad it is sometimes a diet change can help control it as well. Great post, hope it helps someone else getting suckered by their vet.

Would have loved that info a few months ago when I got stuck with a 200$ bill for a couple of pills for my wifes dumb cats

Im not a cat guy at all but the wife loves them...

Happy wife happy life!

He has a fish, not a pet that requires pills.

are you trolling??

Great post and thanks for that tip.
I gave up taking my Springers and cat to the Vet because of the high costs. When they charged me $200 to euthanize our last 18 yr old feline which took 10 minutes to do, then I had to bring her home and bury her in our bush. That really did it for me. Vet prices are a ripp off for sure.............even Market Place has a TV session this week about this same thing.....check it out if you can.
Times are hard enough on all of us with high costs for everything. Where does it end?
