Video "Suckers Don't Suck"

We recently spent one night in Algonquin Park preparing our kayaks, camping gear and cameras for the upcoming season.

Before leaving we had a chance to do a couple of hours of fishing for Shorthead and Silver Redhorse Suckers. The following contains a few minutes of outtake video from the trip.

I think that this year has shown more RESPECT for suckers than any other I have seen.

There have been lots of posts and action shown on the boards.



They truly deserve the accolades for their AWESOME SPRING RUNS.

A great fishing experience for all to enjoy.



I hope next year more FATHERS will introduce these wonderful fish to their children.

Great vid....I on the other hand didnt have the same attitude with suckers last weekend lol. Sometimes I like them and sometimes I dont. Last weekend I was fishing a pool with tons of suckers and a decent amount steelhead. Once I found out it was a sucker I would just horse them out of the pool as hard as I could sometimes skating them on top of the water as to not spook the pool by fighting a sucker. I had no idea my 6lb leader was that strong, I was using 10lb mainline and 6lb fluro leader and I was just forcing these guys (3-5lb) out of the water without any fight at all! Made me think I could maybe size down my leader to 4 lb if I can rip on them that hard.

But certainly suckers do not suck lol those condom style lips put up quite the fight when you let them.

I love catching suckers when fishing for suckers but when I am not fishing for suckers...
