I was out camping in Port Burwell this weekend for some camping with friends with the hope of getting into a fish or two. Walked the rocks for the first time ever and the water was too warm to get into any perch. There were some schools of silver bass around but all of them were far too small to be kept as pan fish. I was the only one who fished in our group so I didn’t stay too long but when I talked to the other two guys on the rocks on the way back I found out they were getting skunked too. Ill have to come back to the rocks again to get my limit when the water temps are much lower.
On the plus side I managed to dig out an old vintage spincast combo that seemed to be out of commission but it looked like there was some hope. Paid $4 for the combo. I got it back to the campsite and spooled some 8lb mono on it to test it out and was able to get it working! Brought it to my go to lake for testing out new equipment and landed a few nice carp on it. It stood up to some nice long runs but the line was getting chewed up a bit and the drag isn’t quite as strong as the vintage Mitchell I found in my garage but still a good find none the less.
Got this mirror carp and lost another one too.
