hey guys, i have been using a nice volteaus spincast for a bit now and have loved it, but im wanting to go for more bass and venture in to the weeds. So my questions are, are baitcasters hard to use? what are some good weedless baits to use for bass in weeds? And any links to how to for different rigs i can use with a baitcaster!
Thanks guys! happy fishing!

Dont feel like you have to use a baitcaster to get into the thick stuff. I use a medium action spinning combo with 20lb power pro and i have no problems hoisting nice bass out of the nastiest cover imaginable!(this year i have pulled 4 bass over 4lbs out of the thick) Lures i find to be extremely effective in the thickest beds are plastics rigged texas style. I like large 4.5" tubebaits rigged texas style the best. Another great bait for the thick stuff is the Moss Boss. Drag slowly as possible across the tops of pads, then pause in the openings in the weeds. Give a slight delay when a fish strikes(especially on a topwater pad drag strike) then set that hook hard!

Ahhhhh i need to try weed fishingggggg!!! Just got some frogs and swimming worms too :)

Just remember these three things when fishing the thick stuff:
1 Keep you rod tip high unless its jumping
2 Duck flying lures*
3 Weed is your friend

*Another reason i like big tubes and other plastics in the weed, its nice to have a 3/0 hook imbedded in the plastic(instead of exposed) when it flies off of a weed it was once caught on at 90mph toward your head. :D

I agree 100%
I use a 7 foot, med rod, 20lb braided on a spinning reel and I'm pullin nice 3lb pike outta heavy weeds no problems. But I'm still an amateur so who knows.
