Want to take up fishing, bought my gear and got my licence yesterday!

Hi Everyone! I've been wanting to take up fishing for awhile and yesterday finally went to Canadian Tire to get a licence and buy my first rod and stuff. I'm very excited and will try to look for a fishing spot friday evening after work and try out my gear! any tips on good beginner ponds or lakes in the york region would be appreciated. Took me awhile to spool up the line onto my reel last night (just a bit over 2 hrs) and wasted probably a 3rd of the line i bought getting all tangled. hopefully thats not to bad for my first time....had to google and youtube instructions on how to do it and on what all the knobs and stuff do on the reel, the people that worked at Canadian Tire wasnt that knowledgeable when i asked questions. Very excited and looking forward to fishing this summer!

Tons of opportunities in York Region and body of water usually holds fish. I've caught fish in some really unlikely places, if you live near a stormwater pond check it out. I can guarantee theres fish in it if it's over 3 years old.

Just go out there and have some fun.
