I am a father of four who started fishing lastt year with my older son and brother in law. My other kids are now interested an outfitted. We have been skunked every time we have gone out. Tried near our house in Plattsville and tried the Pinery on the May long weekend. Any tips, thoughts help would be appreciated as I know how discouraging itis to go out for a couple of hours and get nothing but weeds for the kids. I realize it is the nature of the beast but for them - I want them to stay with it?
Thanks In advance
Geoff

Thank you for the suggestion. I will definately check it out.
Anyone know is it any good within walking distance of our house for the kids?

I'm not from the area and never fished it but google mapping it.. looks like the Thames river just east of the 59 looks promising. A few docks there by the conservation area maybe. Not sure how you'll do just yet with the water temps but your best bet is a worm and bobber.

Geoff, I live fairly close to you. When I take my 8 yr old and 6 yr old out for some shore fishing I usually go to Pinehurst Park near Paris. You just can't beat it for sunfish and the occasional largemouth ( out of season right now). I will set one of their rods up with a bobber and a live leech and the other rod will be a drop shot setup also with a leech. I do this to find out what the fish want that particular day and then go wiht that on both rods. The reason I use leeches (available at any bait shop) is because the sunfish have a harder time ripping them off the hook. Also make sure you are using small hooks or they can be hard to hook because they have small mouths.

Good luck hope this helps!
