warm weather.... warm waters...

hey, with this warmer weather and some rain, what are the chances of it being any good for fishing the credit. seems its one of very few rivers open all year.

im planing on heading out sunday morning. for one last try at a steelie...

if anyone has any info, or any advice.. plz leave a post....

The water at the credit today was clear and fast. Open in all the low, fast spots. Deeper pools had ice cover still. I am sure by tomorrow with the temp and the rain it will be wide open but you will get wet. Good luck.

dec30 afternoon
solid hit by salmon or lg brown...took lure
again 2 minutes later another hit but got off
again 1 minute later a follow...i see the 15lb fish swim by
it had my lure hanging on its mouth....lots of white mould on it
later that afternoon a pike follow.

4 pike follows
twice the pike hung around long enough for several lure switch ups
another guy was with me...he has caught a few pike recently
both of us tried to entice a bite...the pike would almost but not
the barometric pressure was falling all day as the low pressue system moved in.

note i removed a dead pike with lots of the white mould on it today.....

i was gonna call it quit but some warm weather just opened up. was out yesterday as well awsome weather my buddy hit 2 one fish slammed a rather unusual bait he was using lol.

Went to Duffs and Rouge (nice to see u FrozenFire!) And nada. Did a lot of hiking, broke my rod and reel (on a lame take off to clear a ditch at Duffs hah), bought new rod and reel, and still caught nothing.

Met up with L2P top fish another spot, but nada.

The conditions seemed very good, but the fish were in no mood to play yesterday. Seemed like it was a common theme yesterday.

I went up to Beaver earlier this week and still nada. A fella hooked one at the dam, but lost it. Tough week of steelhead fishing all week.

Hey Blair we were going to go to Niagara yesterday but because I am sick I went to credit instead. Left around 10 am afyer fishing for 3 hours, didn't see you? We walked from one side to the other and drifted every nook and cranny and nothing.
Hopefully I am better later this week, my day off is thursday so I may go to Niagara then. If I am lazy, or solo maybe just stay local.

Did you end up going to the whirlpool over the holidays?

I think it will still be fishable sunday, I would be more concerned with the sudden drop in temp. Never had a good day after a 15 degree temperature swing. One day I was killing it a 20+ fish day. Same spot after the front the next day got skunked, go figure. That's why we call it "Fishing". Have a great day fishing and hope you catch something, good luck let us know how you made out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well ... i was out today at the Credit. Total "PEPE LE PHEW" (Skunk city for me and everyone).
About 30 guys out today.

It was a beautiful day to get out. I hit erindale at the crack of dawn.

Used:

1. Roe (Salmon & Brown) - No Luck
- Big bags, Little bags, Medium bags. Chartrouse, Pink, white

2. Pink Worms - No Luck
3. Real worms - No Luck
4. Cleo's - No Luck
5. Berkley Minnows - No Luck

Tried a little "Voodoo dance" around noon hour .... No Luck!

Hit every back eddy, Bottom bounced, Float Drift, Spinners.... up, down.... NOTHING!


*SMILES* Gotta love fishing! Didnt see, hear, smell even one fish for anyone today.
Guess the STEELIES are all out getting ready for the New Year.

I think that after the "Thaw out" .... Sunday should be good. I always have better luck when the water is NOT CLEAR. The melt and rain should also raise the water levels.

I might just see you on Sunday. I was hoping to get down to Niagara Falls today, but my brother In Law had to cancel.
Niagara is TRULY OPEN ALL YEAR. The browns and lakers our out in good numbers too.

Haha wow did friday ever suck!. I can totally agree with you there blair, i was actually too haha surprised i didn't run into ya. But your right absolutely nothing was working, and unfortunately it was hard to work what very few open sections were left unscrewed by ice.

Either way i'm heading there on sunday too so if your looking for that ride, just let me know today by tonight at least, hopefully start the new year with a couple of 2011 steelies!..

that bad eh? hmmmm that's not good. I don't feel like having to cast my bait like i'm navigating a mine field, but i also do loove my fishing haha so I'll probably still stop by haha. Let's hope for the best.

its good to hear all the ice is flowing down... hopefully its a bit cleaner tomorrow morning after the temp, drops over night...

i was there around 3 i dont think it will clear up by tomorrow. But if u are bored got nothing else to do u can try, i woudnt step in the water those chunks were huge they can probably knock u over.

Haha oh they have before, and everyone who is going fishing tomorrow be extremely careful on the ice edges, the warm weather has definitely done a lil warming which means extra caution! cause we all know dying isnt the best way to bring in 2011..

Thanks for the kind offer! Sorry didnt get back to you yesterday. The girlfriend got back on the train late yesterday evening (was visiting family) ... and since I had not seen her for over a week, well you know.
I was `Busy` with some things *SMILES*.

I think I over estimated Sunday, it looks like tomorrow will be the day for the Credit.
The thaw has flushed everything out nicely ... and with tonights minor freeze, it should make the visibility about 1`foot for tomorrow.
Water level high, .... the chute should be prooductive.

Just watching football today and hanging out with the girlfriend.
I do not work on Monday so...

Nooo problem blair, i would have felt bad too cause i showed up at 9 and asked two guys if it was worth it, all i got were shaken heads haha. So no worries!. Plus i think you had better options last night as well!. But tomorrow i'm busy :S but might make a late appearance, hopefully the only thing that will skunk up the place is my morning pancake .
