We had some visitors up for some bass fishing this past week, and they did very well. The bays nearby go from 6 to 15 feet, and bass are being caught in the middle trolling with charteuse rapalas (nice sized smallies). There has also been success with casting surface baits along the stumps and rocky shorelines. Bass busters have been working, as well, any coloured artifical worm casting through the weed beds. The water temp has been around 72 degrees F. As with most bass fishing you need to be careful casting in along the shoreline that you dont get snagged up on rocks or fallen trees. There are some deeper holes out about a mile from us that should present some lake trout, although we have not yet gotten to them. We will for sure report catches on trout in future. Rock bass have been plentiful just casting from the dock, which is always lots of fun especially for the little kids. The weather has been great with nice cool mornings to get out fishing. This coming week calls for sunny skies as well. Lots of wildlife to be seen, this week weve seen a mother loon with babies on her back swimming through the bay, and last week visitors in their boat actually saw a deer swimming across the bay! not something you see every day. Elk continue to be in the area, crossing the Hartsmere Road road so travellers need to be watchful. We will continue to post on bass fishing, and interesting things in the area. If you have not booked a vacation for this summer, and want to fish Lake Weslemkoon, give us a call. You wont be disappointed in this fishery or the area.

Note: We will be doing a winter fishery for perch on Lake Weslemkoon with all inclusive cottage and ice fishing. Whitey will also offer to do some guided fishing for lake trout.
