so just to understand--all flies with bead head and nymph flies are wet
all others are dry? or are there wet flies that look like dry?

hackles? like the ones that feel soft instead of like a brush? man do i have alot to learn

I do but I have one box as well that has a combo of everything so I don't have to wear a vest or anything in the summer

i am in too deep---i need to organize--hey dan is coming saturday as well--fly guy--you have not met him good cat

Dry flies tend to be smaller and have hackle (feather/hair sticking out around the head of the hook) it helps keep the fly on the water surface. With dry flies you have to spray with fly floatant otherwise it becomes a wet fly...lol. I keep all my flies in different boxes just to keep them organized but then it means carrying many more fly boxes.
1. Nymphs weighted and non-weighted
2. Wet flies
3. Dry flies
4. Streamers/larger flies
5. Woolly buggers/others.

One thing is to get a good box for your dry flies and other flies like deerhair flies like a muddler minnow. These get crushed, or their hair will and won't look natrual anymore.

Mad has alot of nice boxes for his flies. All the flies look really well protected.

so i understand the nymph as it lookd different with a steel head on it---the difference between wet and dry fly is the dries are bushier kind of? if you put a wet fly in the water will it just sink?

You got it. A nymph is the bug's life when they are crawling around rocks and living in the water. The nymphs won't always have a bead for a head, some do some don't.

The bushier dry fies helps it stay on top of the water, when you spray it. Here are some pics.

They need to be stored in a thicker box, obviously.

Wet flies and nymphs can have lead tied in the body to make it sink faster or stay near the bottom. Dry flies tend to have thin wire hooks so they are lighter.

come on grub--its close!! you need to smash another steel and i need to catch anything --a cold-boot--tree branch..lol

And if you want your fly back cast into the grass.....lol. Just as long as don't snag one of the other guys....lol. Or your own ass..........
