Ok,,, this has happened to me few times when I spooled up new line to my spinning gear.

I would get line tangle when I cast,,, loosing line sucks, and retreving line by hand sucks too.

Too much line on my spool ?
Reel issue?
Rod guide issue?

Braid, mono or flouro? What pound test? Could be your using a heavy line that's better suited for a larger reel. Also how do you spool it on to the reel to begin with? The line should be spooled on the same way it comes off. That is usually the main reason for line twist.

Most likely, as already mentioned, you wound the line on backwards. Usually place the spool on the floor with the label side up , then whine on the line. I usually try to put to much line on my reels, then it messes up and I end up cutting some off. Try to leave 1/8" of spool showing.

Most Lines have a "Memory" with the possibble exception of "Braid" (Fireline Etc.).

You can "Erase" the Memory by Submerging the line in Hot Water prior to Loading Your Reel.

I've done it. It Works.

Sorry, I am using 30lb braid (8lb diameter), my reel can hold 260 yards of 8lb diameter line.
Yes, I spooled it up with label facing up. (braid or not)

I think i ended up cutting off about 10 yards or so off due to having two hangles .

Last year,

I had (2) instances of what I call ""Defective Line"

One was with Braid (Spiderline- 20 lb) and the Other with Mono (Berkley XT -8 lb). Both I have used with success. (less on the Braid - cause I'm not really a fan of it)

I chalked it up to one of those RARE circumstances .... that it was a bad batch.

Fortunately (Course, not at the "moment" of using lol ) ... Pure Fishing Canada (They own / market the brands here in Canada) sent me 4 replacements spools.

Was very nice of them.
