retired recently at age 48....too much stress after sitting behind a desk for 25 yrs.. ...new to fishing and boating...except a bit when I was young and a bit with each of my 3 kids...in the last 4 mths I have bought 6 rods and reels, a stand, net, tackle box which is now FULL, infating PFD, and a cool anchor...now I just need a boat..shopping for a newer 15-16 foot SC...cant wait!

Very happy with my new boots. I got to use them yesterday for the very first time and they feel amazing. My older Simms Guide boots were like heavy cement blocks. The best part was I got them 30% off at Sail

2017 Mercury 60 ELHPT CT. Going from a 50 that was propped wrong and set too deep, took about 200yds to plane out and top speed of 28mph. Dealer claims it will pop out of the water and guarantees at least 35mph and much better fuel economy because cruising rpm will be waaaay lower. We will see!

What was wrong with the prop (too big/small)? Did you try moving the motor up to the next setting on the bracket? Congrats on your new Merc .

Motor needed some work as well, decided now was the right time to upgrade. Always wanted a big Tiller Handle with troll control!

Cannon 2way holders and tracks. Sweet!! On special $115 a holder and $50 a track.

Today was an expensive one. Spool of 10lbs Sunline, spool of Drenan, weights, two packs of plastic steelhead worms and then I dropped the most money I ever spent on a rod. Splurged on a G-Loomis IMX CPR 11'4', can't wait for nights to be over and get this rod near some water.

Put a pair of Nauticus trolling tabs on the boat. Gets me down to 1.6 mph when needed, however the improvement in how they keep the bow down at take-off is awesome! Had 2 1/2 to 3ft rollers, with a pretty healthy wind sat morning and I had no trouble cruising 16-18mph in a 16 1/2ft aluminum! Prior to the tabs it would have been a 6-8mph crawl. Totally worth the $.

Hey pumpknows.....thats a great musky setup for casting. If you get a designated trolling setup for trolling, get a longer rod rated heavier...over 8oz so you can troll heavy duty lures. Short line trolling in the boats propwash through shallow water is an awesome way to cover water. Trust me....it works.

Good choice on the 11 4 imx big, I know youll enjoy it, Ive moved over to mostly shorter rods now in the 10 to 11 6 range even on big water, don't use the 13 much anymore. I just find the extra length isn't needed and have more control with a shorter stick. no problem still keeping line off water. Look at out on the west coast most guys use rods in the 10 to 11ft range.

Recently received an order from Paul at coolwaters , stocked up on his slip floats and his new bead line up, some amazing colours in glass and acrylic.
