Sorry but I cannot agree with on that oneMykester said:Fishing is majorly based off of luck. You can have the most expensive setup and you'll catch squat if the fish gods are angry with you.

FrankTheRabbit said:I was at Credit today and someone came up to ask if we were catching anything. While I was looking over at him, he had a stick, line, hook, and bait. Dead serious. If he catches a trout with that, I'm retiring. Clearly, I have no place in this sport with the money spent on bells & whistles for this sport.

did he have a reel?
Yanni said:When was younger and went mostly for panfish and bass my dad would(still used reels and rods) have a spool of line with 3 or 4 hooks and would just toss it out with our hands and pull it back in with 2-4 fish on it  Had to do that once to a nice 25lb ish female salmon, had it almost fully tired out and since the rod I was using was already damaged at the point where you connect the 2 pieces together it just snapped there and dragged the line in with my hands.
As for the person with a rod without a reel.. not sure if he was using a Tenkara but if he was I wouldn't be so quick to judge. But from the sounds of it he was using an actual stick right lol? Either way that's pretty bad ass. 8)

3-4 hooks on a line? Lol. I hope your dad doesn't practice that still, because it's plain out illegal. Any line with more than 1 hook attached to your line (except for the artificial ones that have two) cannot be used. I'm pretty sure with that, but if someone wants to add more detail, please do.
The Tenkara fishing method sounds pretty fun.
The fella at Credit was using a stick off of a tree. I tip my hat to him.
Honest mistake on your part, but for the future please do yourself and everyone else a favor by checking it out first. Someone may mistakenly read something on a forum and abide by it, of course nobody should EVER do that and should look up what their not sure of for themselves or call the ministry to not cause any confusion(they may do something that in fact isn't allowed, they may cause a problem with someone at a lake/river/etc because they think their doing something illegal when they aren't or may call the mnr on them when their not in the wrong)..Hooks and Lines – An angler may use only one line, unless otherwise stated in the regulations. Two lines may be used when angling from a boat in parts of the Great Lakes (see Exceptions to the General Regulations) and for ice fishing in many areas (see Ice Fishing, page 11). A fishing line must not have more than four hooks attached.
