Hockey will always be canada's number 1 sport, I find it hard to believe that only 2 million canadians play hockey. If anyone heard Don Cherrys rant a few weeks ago they would know that hockey teams all over the US are flooded with players from Ontario, Why you ask? Because hockey is Canada's sport! Im not sure where they would get the 6 million number from either, its pretty tough to find people who are actually interested in fishing, maybe its the number of people who have bought a rod at one time or another?

Hockey is the #1 sport and the Montreal CanadiEns are the #1 Team within that sport!

I got that number from someone I know at CDN Tire who deals with there fishing stuff. Two million for Hockey, and 6 million for Fishing. I do not know how they calculated those numbers but I would think that it would be pretty important for them to know what those numbers are since they sell both sports equipment.

I think because like me I am to busy fishing and catching fish ..but you are right fishing is really Canada's main sport ...I do agree...but of coarse it is as Canadians we have the more lakes and freshwater then any other country on the planet...and the best fishermen

Agreed. Canadian beers are always winning awards as being among the worlds best, they have been for years.
So my take on this whole thread is that Canadas # 1 sports are in no particular order, hockey accompanied with a few beers, fishing accompanied with a beer, girls fishing with some beers, basketball or lacrosse with a few. And then there is girls watching hockey with some beers. Hold on this could get very lengthy.
I still have to go with CCs analogy. "Beer."
All sports go good with beer.
