Not sure if this has come up before, but thought it might be an interesting discussion. Here are some of my go to knots.

To create a loop ot the base of my leader : Perfection Loop
To attatch a leader to a fly line: Nail knot
To build leaders or attatch tippet: Blood Knot or Surgons loop
To attach a fly: Trilene, Davy Knot, Pitzen
To creat a loop to a fly for better action: No Slip Loop
To attach a wire or heavy floro bite leader: Slim Beauty
To attach my backing to reel: Arbor Knot
To create a loop in backing to loop on fly lines and heads: Spider Hitch

This Link will show you how to tye these and a bunch more: http://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots

Yes. It's been covered a few time but that doesn't matter. No harm in Reviewing Very Useful Information.

A Knot I've been using for MANY Years is the "Double Surgeons Knot". They refer to it here simply as a "Surgeons Knot" but it is Doubled, NOT A Single Loop!

It Rates at 90% To 95% of the Line Strength, can be tied in seconds and the main Benefit is that the Loop is intended to fasten any type of Lure, O Ring, Swivel, Etc. to the end of your Line. If it's not "Jammed On" to tight it can be Loosened and reused on something else.

TIP: Examine the Line Carefully after using it. There's a Reasonable chance a Sharp End on an O-Ring or anything else it's been attached to might have Abraded the Line. In which case, cut it off and tie a new one.

I also tie a Clinch knot on the Tag end before tightening and clipping it. Just "Insurance" that it won't Slip Through.

The Arbor Knot you mention is also Very Good for the Purpose intended.

I've attached a few Drawings from My MASSIVE Knot Collection of Knots in "My Documents". ... LOL...

Arbor to reels.
Nail knot to attach leader to fly line and swab a tiny bit of glue on the knot.
Trilene to attach flies.

That's about it.

Well according to 'Knot wars' i ams wrong on the palamor knot, it reignrd champion in the 6lb class. The Berkley seems quite respectable as well. Any body use this knot?
Not totally wrong Swiftcurrent. If this knot is Not tied properly it WILL Fail.

It's not hard to tie it the WRONG WAY. The last Loop (And Entire Knot) MUST be ON TOP of the Hook Eye NOT the Hook Shank. (See Pics Below)

No. I don't use this knot. I'll stick with the "Double Surgeons Knot" As Above.

My favorite knot for a stiff connection to snaps and split rings on lures is the fish-n-fool knot. For a loose connection I use the rapala knot. For leader material I use the Trilene knot.

attaching lines: nail knot / albright knot

creating loops: lefty's loop knot / rapala knot

adding to leader/tippet: double surgeons knot

attaching lure/hook/fly: improved clinch knot / lefty's loop knot / rapala knot

Want to learn the perfection loop, seems like a pain though?
