I caught this male fish a couple of years ago now and I never really knew or found out what type of fish it was, I caught it around August/September 2012 near Georgian Bay/Owen Sound and it was around 14 inches, Anyone know what type of fish this ???

No way in heck is that a laker! It certainly looks like a chinook, because of how beat up it is in the pic we could say there was a chance the tail was damaged I suppose, pink could also work as I know the pinks weren't running on Erie that year so it's possible they weren't on the bay either.

Im going with chinook but cant see the image very clearly atm. Possibly a pinook ( hybrid between a pink and chinook ). Although adult chinooks have fairly flat tails at 14" it could still be sporting its forked tail ( fork disappears with age ) Do you have any more pictures?

Don't think that is a laker, nor do I think it is a Chinnie either.
Doesn't look like a Pink, Atlantic or Brown.

My question would be, why did you keep it if you didn't know what it was? It could have been a protected or out of season fish.

Going to go out on a limb and say it may be a Splake. Not a Pink for sure. Doesn't have the characteistics of a Laker. Splake are stocked in Georgian Bay all around that area.

Alfie.

Spots seems to be round, but with a forked tail? I dunno, could it be a cross between a bow and a salmon? Is that even possible? I dunno somebody will figure it out eventually

Because thought it was a brown trout and asked a guy fishing near by he also thought it was a brown trout but after looking at the picture I'm not sure what it was.
