When/How do you use hardbaits for fishing in the river for salmon?

I've used 4-7" Hardbaits in just about any part of the river and it draws strikes all the time, how to fish them though is a secret that I keep to my self.

I use 2-3" deep diving crankbaits on rivers all the time. deep divers, like the ones with horizontal bills that are more or less the same length as the crankbait. I found that If I use crankbaits that are bigger, I have trouble presenting them the way I want to. I have a way of fishing crankbaits that I havnt seen online yet, so it might be original (sorry, cant share).

hardbaits means $$$ in big rivers i guess they're ok. but once you get in to funnels...you will lose a lot.

Yea, im just looking for something that would get a chinook to react and strike a lure.
The only think im afraid of is foul hooking and maybe loosing a lure.

I went to BPS and saw these lures in the river/salmon/trout section.
Anyone try them before?
