When someone other than a conservation officer/police(ie, some bystander, another fisherman, etc) asks you for your fishing license, what do you do?

Do you show them? or tell them no?

What situation causes one angler to ask another for their license? That's nuts.

And to answer the question, no, I'm not showing my license to anyone other than an officer.

I can't imagine why someone would ask you for your fishing licence; if they weren't a C.O. / O.P.P...

Obviously the answer you give ought to be 'No. You may not see my licence."

i wouldnt show them my card imo theres no need for them to see it (although i dont even need one yet but thats besides the point)

Absolutely not. If they cannot take my word for it, then that is their problem. I would tell them to call the police or MNR if they have a problem.

Anybody who is not the law and has the tenacity to ask somebody for their license is just trying to stir trouble.

Did this happen to you? Did they threaten you? Did you feel there was maybe some prejudice or discrimination behind it? If so, get a description of the person and file a report with the police. Nobody has the right to ask you for license other than peace officers. Nobody has the right to oppress you.

/end rant

I for some reason doubt a random fisherman would approach you and ask you to show them your license. Your actions would of had to of provoked it? (White bucket fisherman) However, if you are obeying the rules and regulations id tell them where to go

I know some guys that try to be a smart *ss and pretend to know the regs better than anybody else, when im fishing for salmon in the fall there's always that one guy that surgically inspects my catch to tell me if I caught it in the mouth or not, just to find out that im releasing it -_- And when people ask me about my license I just give them the "look" and carry on my way. People need to stop to try to enforce the law without being a law enforcement officer, it never ends well. If you see someone that is not doing the right thing just call the mnr and report them with all the details...
