First off I'll start off by saying Hi to everyone as I just joined here.

I have seen a lot of Lure's like the top one in the link that are alway's painted Green on top Yellow in the middle and Blaze Orange on the bottom and all the colour's are usualy bold.

Just to be clear I'm not asking where and when should I use a Rapala Deep Tail Dancer, what I want to know is when do you Guys and Gal's use a Lure painted as I described above,I know every manufacturer

of CrankBait's paint's almost everyone of there CrankBait's in that colour pattern.

Is it because the paint stands out well in really mirky and dirty water or is this one of these thing's where the Lure is painted to catch men and not fish.

I know me and my friend find for Salmon and Rainbow fishing a Rebel Jointed minnow painted Silver and Blue or Silver and Black or Grey and black work well being trolled or if you need to get them down deeper we use a down rigger, and the thing we have found whether it's a Spoon or a Crankbait a Lure Painted that match's what you would see in the water you are fishing works best.

Deep diving lures are great trolling lures. Like Backwoods said. Pike post spawn love to chase plugs in moderate speed the color is good and bright and the fish will have a good vision of a small fish in trouble even when it's not close to them. triggers them to investigate and if the pike figures it fits it's mouth...fish on. I can't seem to open the link but here's my favorite pike lure right now. This is suppose to be a walleye lure but pike love them.

Wade that pattern, generally speaking, is money. You'll see tons of similar designs, with diferent names, and slightly different patterns/colour combos...most are perch/sunfish imitarions. My preference is the "firetiger" patterns (green/yellow/orange with black stripes) that have a bit of a brownish tinge to the back.

Try out a few different models/brands to see which one you like, because this is a go-to pattern you will want to keep in your box.

Hey rich those smithwicks = :D ...and the price = :D :D

love the slight pencil profile...how deep can you cruise them at a moderate retrieve? Cudnt find it on the site.

I got mine for even lower than the link @ lebarons. I believe $4.77 (what an odd price). The label says up to 10ft. but I bring it about 8ft bottom on slow retrieve. I tried fast retrieve but the lure looks like it's looking to pick a fight (now you wouldn't want that) just too much action. this is a suspending lure but the thing is when you stop it slowly floats which I find weird. But it works great for pike.

Yah dude I only like the fast retrieve for the fat bodies, just a thing of mine...

That depth sounds money for spring pike and summer buckets... I'm not overly experienced with cranks but so far those that rise on the pause have been my favourite regardless of the profile of the bait or whether I'm looking for bass or pike.

thx for the info!

As soon as you said the colors it was obvious to me that it is designed to imitate a Perch, which is low on the food chain when you have larger preditors around. I have several lures in the same colors and it doesn't really matter the water conditions, they catch Pike, Walleye and Bass.

Alfie.

Caught some decent walleye on that colour pattern this past weekend up in the kawarthas.
