Just wondering where there are local live bait shops. Preferably TTC accessible.

Sub-question: I'm gonna give ice fishing a shot on either Grenadier pond, the lagoons at the Islands or humber marsh. What sort of minnow would be the go to for perch and crappies?

cheers
Cam

Small shiners are your best option for perch and crappie.
I'm not sure where you're located. But north of the city at Bass City (on Hwy 7 between Warden and Kennedy), and Pro J (on Sheppard between BIrchmount and Warden) offers superior counts for great prices.

In Scarborough there is also AV on Shephard between Markham Rd and McCowan Rd and also Luclky Tackle at Midland and Shephard and in Pickering thee is Tightlines Fishermans Warehouse. If you are going for Crappie or Perch on Simcoe or Scugog then the local tackle shops will be your best bet.

where you the guy ice fishing off the humber river around the bloor st bridge last week?

There is a place on Jane, just north of Lawrence. They specialize in ice fishing and have a great selection of minnows. I remember they had a website, but I haven't been there for years since I moved out of the city.

Nah, wasn't me. I haven't had time off yet. Hoping to give it a shot soon. Saw another guy on Grenadier pulling out perch. Urban ice fishing is apparently alive and well in the GTA

Midland and Sheppard Lucky's fishing tackle, although he's a bit annoying.. if you bother him enough you can haggle with him.. trust me we have bought so many things from him.. at prices you wouldn't believe, we don't believe in his sticker prices, also if you want any type of minnow and you know in advance you can always tell the guy and he can order some for you..

I went over to his place last weekend looking for suckers, he didn;t have any said he;d order em in for the next day..

But i needed them for that day so.. didn;t work out.. but google Lucky;s fishing tackle..

Yeah Frozenfire is right. Get the small shiners. I was fishing lake simcoe an all day I was using big minnows. Big minnows, big fish, so I thought until I got a big perch. Looked in it's mouth an had three small minnows about 1" in length. I switched tackle to accommodate smaller bait an bam. Hitting the big one an my son was so exited
