Does anyone know if there's a decent bathymetric(ontour) map of Lake Simcoe on line that can be printed out?
I found a PDF version but I can only print it as 1 sheet, so it's quite unreadable as a 8 1/2 by 11.
thx

It's nearly impossible to find a high quality map online that is free. Goodluck

seems like the only way to get good maps is to get a marine GPS and pay for a map pack (at least that i've found).

Unless you want to go around buying the physical maps at local tackle shops

"knuguy" You Posted this on the 13th. Today is the 18th. Not a word from You and You've been on here Every Day since.
Sorry, FH,

I know I've been here briefly most, if not every, day. But I have not taken the time to do a proper search for the maps as our plans to go on Simcoe got put on an indefinite hold. It may not look that way, but I do appreciate your help. I made an effort to find that really nice colored 1 from which you posted a Cooks Bay excerpt but had no luck.

Have a Nice Day!

I think the marine GPS is the best way to go. That's what I ended up having to do when I couldn't find a decent map to save my life.

Thx folks--I ended up going a couple of times, skunked on both, but at least we had a map. :???: My partner had a GPS with a map on it. That looks like the way to go if you are out on Simcoe a lot, but it seems fairly expensive.

It looks like FH I went into a snit and removed any links when I didn't respond promptly.

FH II---are you related to FH I?

I know that a local library here has the old MNR contour maps which I've made photo copies drawn into halfs/quarters/etc. with a straight edge cut using scissors, piece together using scotch tape and make water proof by layering shipping tape front/back.

It's kind of a Red/Green solution but it is cheap I think that you could also go to a local print shop have them down load maps from Anglers Atlas & have them laminated.

It should be easy to find the Great Lakes smaller lakes could be harder to find on Angler's Atlas or Garmin GPS Blue Charts.

The MNR depth charted lakes back in the 1970's by weighted line with a series of diffrent coloured knots to identify the diffrent depths much in the way as Captain Cook.

Hope this helps!
