My son and I go to the 50 point park for some fishing but I would like to take him other places where we can catch some more fish to keep him interested, any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Boy it's a shame the SUCKER RUNS are almost done now.
ALWAYS keep in mind that EVERY APRIL there in by the hundreds (Thousands) and are one of the most enjoyable and easiest fish to catch.

Every single Trib in lake ontario (Don, Rouge, Humber, Credit, Duffins etc) all have them.

Simple set ups: Worm - Hook - split shot sinker ( I NEVER USE a float )

All the "STEELHEADERS" have no problem letting you know where to go! *SMILES*

They get up to 6 lbs and can fight real good.

I"m afraid I dont know the little ponds too well here in the GTA area.

However, in about another month, when the weeds start to come in .... I would recomend just going down to Ontario Place (In front) and fishing for the Perch.

Use a small jig head with a pink plastic worm (Just half a piece) they love em!

Hopefully someone can also let you know where there are TONS of SUNFISH.

Pound for Pound they are one of the MOST AGGRESSIVE and fun little fish to catch (Just use worms)

I seen a 6" sunfish hit a 8" rapala.

No other fish in all are water can boast that kind of ferocity!

Sometimes up in Strugeon Lake ... I've had on what I thought was a Big Walleye or Bass only to find out it was a Fighting Sunfish

I agree with you, when my day is going slow and nothing is biting I always enjoy catching sunfish! Especially on a ultra light rod.

Sounds good i will do that, anyone got any advice for fishing sunnies and perch in the Grimsby area?

hi there....
30 min from Grimsby in Mississauga go to Aquitaine lake if you can, this is really an artificial pond with lots of bass and sunfish for the kids, I take my little one and fish from the deck, I tell you: every time we put the line in the water there's a bite, really good for the kids, it's a beautiful safe park, family oriented; there's also other areas to fish around the shore, I've seen really huge animals hitting something in the surface (probably a pike??? they say there is pike in there but I've never seen any). well worth giving it a try.
have fun!

Heya New:

No trout, but if you want to keep his interest (boys are a little distractible as it were) it would be nice to introduce him to some surface action form a canoe at such places as Valens Conservation Park. Admittedly I haven't been there is decades but there is nothing like watching your boys' eye pop from his head as bass come up to smash a surface lure.

Best and welcome...
CC

I would take him to the Don Valley Brick Works, there are tons of sunfish! Use a small piece of worm on a small hook and don't even add a sinker. They will come. Cheers.

I would even be willing to drive to Erie or its tribs to get some nice crappie, perch, sunfish or pike, ok well the last one was for me but the others are my main goal as some of you have mentioned young ones have a very short attention span for long drawn out catches. I could go all day and if I get one good one it is productive but 3 year olds only last so long.
Thank you

Try getting your son near some rocks in a creek- none stop rock bass and sunfish. 2 of the easiest fish to catch.

Good luck, tight lines!
