im wondering which baitcaster will do better for me, ive been saving up for a long time and can afford both. I was thinking either the quantum smoke pt baitcaster 150 with left hand retreive or an exo pt 300 left hand retreive. Im going to fish for bass and pike, maybe salmon if im feeling adventurous. Ill be using 20-30lb powerpro maybe 20lb mono. Ill most likely be fishing big water eg. the niagara whirlpool or on a boat in lake o. Im also curious as to wondering if i could release the bail on either and let out the line so i can float fish. are the bails smooth enough to do that ? thanks for all the help guys much appreciated.

If I had to choose, I would pick exo purely for the massive spool capacity.

But in reality, I would never buy anything that expensive. My silvermax is more than enough :p

if it was me, id increase the budget just a little bit more.
although not a low profile reel, id get a the previous gen daiwa luna/cv-z, or shimano calcutta te.
even a used one will serve many more years of abuse.
ive taken 30lb bass with both reels. so anything smaller isnt a problem.

once you start buying time tested high end equipment, think of it more as an investment.
sadly, i dont think of quantum as a sound investment.

I wouldnt spend.that much on a.baitcaster...heard alot of good things about the curado....and ya i also want to see this 30 pound bass :D

Honestly if you are spending money, again me and hamiltonangler are on the same page lol. Low profile musky reel the curado 300. Best hands down. If not dont go low profile baitcaster and get a shimano cardiff. Great reel again for all aspects.

lol 30lb striper, id rather a low profile because i dont like the bulkyness of the other ones.i just found out bass pro has a sale on caster s and has the bionic plus ( little brother of my current reel ) on sale for 29$ i figured i can snag that for my spare and then get another one with a fancy smanchy new rod ?? im thinking a new veritas or a sellus,. I dont want to spen more than 75 ideally but if its good i can do 100, preferably 2 peice please thanks for all the advice guys

I wish I'd known that before just bought a pin setup but thanks for the info

I am also a big abu garcia user. I would suggest looking at the STX or SX. Quantum is great looking but will break on you. I have seen too many returns on them.
