i don't use attractants/scents myself, but i can imagine it can convert non-takers into takers.
They sure do !! Made some of my own homemade scents last year, 1 garlic craw version & also a mix recipe, tried it on my spinnerbaits & mini-spinners, plus a few small fly jigs earlier in spring, it worked well when the action slowed down after an hour or two. I think disspatcher mentioned a great way of making garlic scent yourself, you could also do a search on the net for some liquid garlic, I remember ppl used to use Pam a while back. Also there's some excellent brands like Upper Hand Hawg Sauce & Lunker Sauce(marinade), BANG, and Mega-Strike paste based scent, this stuff lasts long & works well, but can get dirty. A good fishing buddy recommended I try some Dr.Juice scent, picked some up in pike/musky scent a few weeks ago, gonna give it a whirl through-out the season, I wanted to try it out on some of my flashabou spinners, I'll let you know if I notice a difference in follows/hits versus not using it etc.
Back to the topic senkos/wacky/texas rigging:
here's another quick tip, when either going wacky or texas rig, just be ready to set hook, on the initial cast, I found especially when fishing with senkos w/ pond bass on the first few casts, the fish tend to gulp the whole stick on the initial fall, so be ready to set hook when you feel that tug, otherwise you might be missing a lot of fish. Again it depends on where you're fishing, in murky water conditions the fish will usually 100% commit to hitting sticks on fall, in clear water conditions they make take a bit of coaxing, most times I'll switch from a flipping & jigging the rod tip up retrieve to a constant ultra-slow retrieve with 2-3 second pauses, and then ultra-fast to ultra-slow retrieves with 2-3 second pauses, it literally drives the fish nuts.
