Looks like the whirlpool is still a write off, down there yesterday lots of ice, any about 2 feet deep visibility and will probably get worse with the warm weather coming this weekend should see more ice come in. The Glen looks like a better option right now.

Oh wow - has the barrier formed upstream? Thanks for the update
Yeah the ice bridge is there below the falls and the American falls are completely frozen! But with the warmer weather and rain this weekend I am sure there will be a lot of ice break off that will make its way in to the whirlpool.

But I was at the glen and looked okay some float by ice and a little ice ridge I saw at least 4-5 guys in the area. It is a little hairy getting down there!!! If any one goes down use extreme caution lots of hidden ice under the snow.

Thanks again for the information - with these mild temps I can image things will get real nasty. Question about the first picture - the white 'crust' around the pool... is that fluid or solid?

It was solid but there was some lifted cracks and a few open pools, I would guess2-3 feet thick, about 10-15 feet out from the shore line.

All the ice that formed last week will be invisible and can get you down there quick...but not in a good way. I'd take the closest port for some pier fishing than going down there right now.
