Hey dude, welcome! Basically if you're looking for spots to fish for steel, just look at the regs, it will give you names of tribs that are open all year. And if you want to know where they are holding, work deep pools, behind logs and rocks, undercut banks, deep runs, and well... They could be anywhere if the river is deep enough. But try the first mentions. And for bait, roe, plastics, and flies. I really like running flys this time of year, I think those fish get back into a smolt state of mind and pick up insects and crustaceans. Black or olive # 8 or 10 wooly buggers seem to work best. But if you're running roe or plastics you can't go wrong with pink. Hope this helps you out man. Good luck!

Hey cool thanks for the info that helps a lot.

Hey Mike.
Blair posted an excellent article about winter Chrome on Dec 29. Just scroll a bit further down this page and you will see it. It is written by a B.C. angler but most of what is said also applies here in my experience. It's a very informative article and an excellent read for any Chrome hunter. It's entitled WINTER STEELHEADING.
As I read it I kept saying YES, YES, YES to myself. I personally have fished Steelies 35 years and much of what is in the article wasn't news to me, but even an older guy like me picked up a few new things that I will incorporate into my winter fishing routine.

Alfie.
