worms for steelhead at night

Hi. Do anyone fish steelhead at nighttime for chromers with worms? Any success? I would like to fish less pressured hours but habe no idea of bait to use at night to provike strikings . No roe for this guy. I have not purchased any as of yet.

Are suckers a problem? You would catch fish in my opinion. But im not sure if it would be constant suckers. Never tried it though.

roe or egg suck leeches are my top two for night time steel, you can obtain roe from online sites if not comfortable harvesting a fish.
scent is important at night and I have added scent to flies at night in the past gooey roe smells a lot too, worms have scent aswell and are a big profile and meal so I assume they would work

As for "harvesting roe" how exactly do you ethically do this? Is it normally okay to kill a fish and just take its roe?
Just curious, trying to find out whats the "norm" in the fishing community

I personally do not like to kill the fish just to take its roe. I just catch and release.

If you kill the fish for roe you also need to take the fish. You can use the fish yourself or give it away but you can't leave the fish at the river.

Ah okay, makes sense. I think i will just stick with beads then... Might not be as effective but there just so much easier to use.

I've had good luck fishing at night with florescent beads and flatfish lures
