Anyone planning to pick nightcrawlers tonight?

Freezing rain / rain / snow, temperatures hovering around 0, will they come out? I hope so.

Im going to assume nobody is planning on that tonight...but I guess anything is possible lol

Haha well I'm hoping to get at least a dozen in case I go steelheading this week, I hate paying $5 when I can get them free

$5! who charges that? 2.50 is standard and vending machines charge $3

Amazingly ... as long as the ground is not frozen solid ... they still do.
Not like a mid July Night ... but they are there.

If it is DAMP (not frozen ... even more so)

Last year, I actually picked some ... as late as Dec 10.

Hope we can all experience: WE GOT WORMS!

December 10th - wow, good news!

NADO some places charge $5 for 18 worms. I know there's a worm vending machine at the GOCO station off Ira Needles, don't remember how much they charge though. You're right that most tackle shops are around $3 per dozen. Still rather get 'em free though!

In early Aug this year 2 doz worms was $6 then by the end of Aug it was $5 but for only 18. Downsizing is happening with worms....lol.. Next year I'll start my worm box in the back yard. I think the main problem with it was some kind of grub or beetles found them and had a feast. Next year will be beetle proof...lol.

No worms tonite...... Freezing rain.
If you haven't already raked up yur leaves, you would find some tasty worms under them. They are usually around 3"-4" Works for me

You are from Waterloo? I didnt think anyone in this city was into steelheading lol.

Yeah but I've never gone steelheading on the Erie tribs - I stick to the Huron tribs mostly. I tend to bump into KW folk on the Maitland, Nine Mile, and Saugeen.

I wish gas would go back under a dollar per litre!

Gas= going up
Food = going up
Heating bill = going up
Unemployment= going up

Standard of living= going down

We shall all have to make the best of it!

I purposely leave my garden beds covered with the leaves from my Maple trees. I simply have to lift the stack of leaves and should have 100's of them ready to go into a container.
-I know that I will be using worms soon and I don't intend on ever buying them, :grin:
