Hey, Im looking for a mid range switch rod in 7 or 8 wt. Considering buying a loomis pro4x which would be my top end as far as price, thus I am reaching out to see what used items might be available. Also scouring speypages, but would definitely prefer face to face sale if possible.

Looks like a nice rod, thanks for the suggestion, definitely right on the mark as far as the $ I wanna spend. Ill have to shoot over to the store and feel it out.

Still interested in some pre-fished gear if its out there too

as an owner of a st croix imperial switch i can with confidence say its a great rod.
if i was in the market for a different weight class id definitely grab another

Tcp are you looking to just swing, or sh nymph as well? Some switches have shorter lower handles, more suited for some sh work, while others are more like small speys. My redington cpx switch has a shorter handle and it doesn't suit my large hands/frame for dh fishing

Sorry wasn't trying to bash the st Croix. Just offering another option. My spey is an older stcroix spey and its a nice rod

they're both good rod choices, i had forgotten about echo

Ive got a loop 7107 opti switch with x grip if you are interested. Can be a full package or rod separate.. right now I have a 3.5 speedster on it with a rio gold or scandi short versitip with airflo ridge running line...

Looking to swing, and also to use SH for great lakes carp in the summer. Looking for versatility, may do some nymphing as well for steel

thanks, I heard loop doesn't have good (existent) warranty in Canada, might also be out of my price range.

After reading this thread and other places on line, I ended up buying the 8wt st croix imperial switch from the store today, best value i could find, and highly recommended by everyone I talked to! Thanks for the tips everyone, greatly appreciated.

Ive never had an issue with the canadian warranty system, have actually had no hassle replacement sections. Also would have swung you a better price then a new imperial. Regardless you will be happy with that rod...

Thanks man, just heard that, not experienced myself, hearsay only. But again thanks for the offer. Maybe in the future we'll do some business ;)
