Putting it out there to yarn drifters:

What size yarnies are you drifting for what conditions? Will the work under a float?

Also, do you use them with beads/corkies for BBing deep fast stuff like the whirlpool?

Thanks!

Either yarn is not that big with OFF steelheaders, or I'm prying into baits people just don't like to share ;)

After some research, answer is (according to the Fishing w/ JD Blog and Steelheaders.net) match corkie/spin and glow and yarn with the size of the hook, but generally start out making them the size of a nickel.

All the information is for bottom bouncing, nothing about floats.

Still the burning question is will it drift under a float? I'm assuming a small micro shot needs to be placed near the hook to keep it from floating up... but is this a bait i can take to the tribs when a guy has no roe?

I use to see people use them before beads took over. This was a few years ago.

I fish yarn egg patterns under the float exclusively, they work really well for me, i tend to use them in more clear water. white and peach are my go to colours.

X2 , two tone colours work well as well. Small shot can be added to your leader to get it down there if needed.
