I am in Windsor Ont, for a couple of days with the family - want to try my luck in the Detroit river... but.. I am a bit confused by the 2 different Zone regulations.

It appears that Windsor is in Zone 16, but on the zone 16 doc, says that Detroit river falls under Zone 19? They have very different limits and times of year to catch certain fish.

Can anyone confirm? I am on the Canadian side.
Thanks,

Also - any good fishing in the river this time of year?

detroit is in zone 19, waiting to start walleye fishing soon depends how quick the weather warms up but by the end of march early april it should pick up as the walleye begin spawning.I can't help as i don't fish over the winter myself. Some guys hit up the city marina on the eastside through out the year though.

Thanks Chris. So then Zone 16 must be for Ontario side - Thanks.

The City Marina - how can i find that on the map? Not all familiar with Windsor. :)

I think the river is zone 19, it isn't unusual for large bodies of water to have WMU zones that are distinct from the in-land lakes adjacent to them. Good luck!

the great lakes systems have their own zone regs that are separate from the mainland/inland regs, for example lake ont is zone 20, but you have 3 or 4 zones that are adjacent to it. having one set of zone regs for the great lakes system makes it much easier than trying to figure out boundaries and whatnot when you're 10km offshore
