What up friends Went out and hit the grand today for some smallies. Day started out great with my first 4 cast getting fish. It was actually crazy, i got over 15 fish for the day (in 4 hours) and found some awesome new spots. Heres the two best fish of the day .

And.. Unfortunatly this guy didnt make it the big ones nail it so hard it almost garenteed it gets stuck in there throat. Anyone have tips on getting hooks out of there? I feel bad when i gotta cut and leave the hook.

Barbless !!! And long forceps
yup barbless and long needle nose pliers, if the fish is thrashing around too much for you to work with, put it in the water and hold it upside down for it a sec it temporarily stuns the fish ( in a safe way ) so it stops thrasing after 30 sec it wares off, i know this works with trout not sure about bass however

Thanks guys i always go barbless. But i definetly need some long forceps. The plyers i have are only like 3 inch long. Hahhaa. Thanks for tip chasin. And bougher. Camt wait to get out again

Nice smallies 420! Unfortunate about the 2nd one..when they want it, they want it!

Thanks for sharing Cheers

Nice, looks like a lot of fun. Is the grand the only big spot for smallies in the summer? I looked around at a ton of spots in the last few weeks trying to find something (never been bass fishing so I really want to try it out), but everything was pretty dry and no fish around :( If anyone knows where the smallies are around Oakville I would be forever in your debt.

Smallies are every where its just a matter of understanding there preferred habitat to target them affectivly and like all fish the more remote the location the less pressure and better odds in most cases

Nice smallies everyone! :D You guys are making me jealous!
  Noob. You just gotta get here, I have offered to show you places and techniques on the Grand before.
I have met up with at least 4 other OFF members, taken them to a few spots and showed them how I catch them and we had very successful days with multiple fish and also multiple species. I also agree with 420 in that 15 fish in a few hours happens fairly regularly at the right spots. My friend and I have caught like 50 fish in 6 hours at some places. Not all Bass but a mix of Cats and a few Pike, Walleye and other "usual suspects" added in.

Alfie.
