Got out for a few casts with this rod and reel yesterday and I love it. Okuma makes a great rod for the money.

So I ended up pulling the trigger on an Okuma SST 10'6" Medium. It has the carbon fibre grips, too, which should be an interesting twist. It seemed like the right weight and action for the purpose. Also, it was 20% off today, so that's a bonus too. I'm putting a Penn Spinfisher V 4500LL on it...

I've had good luck with whitefish on Simcoe using salties (salted minnows). I make my own and usually rig them very near bottom in about 30' of water.

Pump, I was having trouble finding the silver/chartreuse ones and they had them in 3 sizes.

Still some great deals to be had if you pick through it. I've been stopping by when I have time and spent way too much too much already. They're getting stuff from the other locations once in a while. Last time I went they had a bunch of little cleos in a hard to find colour, I left with 5 of those.

I'm still seeing a few salmon cruising around the pier and jumping. Lots of steelhead jumping but no hits yet from them, at least not for Trev.
