I have been using pop up deadbait rigs for Pike over the last few weeks and It seems to be what they are expecting to find.... winterkill baitfish. some of the baitfish have been 6 inches or more, and they still get taken.

Perhaps it would be good to have a small one day tourny, with local CAG members drawn to pair with first timers as team mates.

You can catch the smaller harbour pike pretty much year round downtown, there's so many of them. Straight drop offs and corners (ambush points) are always good starting points. They may not be very aggressive as they have a lots of winter kill laying around on the bottom to just pick up an eat...

I got an 18ft interline rod for specific venues where I need extreme distance with a feeder rig.

I am downtown T.O. and I will be fishing deeper water than normal around the river mouths where they dont freeze. Last year was great as there was no ice at all, but this year there is already significant build up on the shallow areas. If the temps pick up enough, theres a few harbour locations...
