    Wide spool reels

MA, Why are you looking for this type of reel??? That might help us provide some insight. Personally, I'm not a fan of using this type of reel for shore fishing, but they are deadly for jigging etc. With this type of narrow spool, when you cast the line coils will come off rather quickly and...

    A fun joke...

Take a few cups of corn starch and add into a plastic bowl. Slowly add some water while stirring it. It will get really firm even though it looks liquid. Tell your kids you'll pay them $20 if they can use the cornstarch to mould a small snowman It's a little messy, but good fun. My kids are...

Ever take inventory of your gear?

I've done that as well, haha. Not so much nowadays, but I used to even drive 5 hours to Winnipeg just to visit the tackle stores. When I was in Alberta, I went to a store that had to have every Rapala lure ever made in every color made, and even though I only use maybe 10 Rapala lures, I still...

Questions about restrictions and rules for fishing

Where are you fishing and why the heck is anyone telling you to stop? Also, as mentioned, as long as your legal, if anyone is trying to force you to stop fishing you can call the MNR and report it. put there number right into your cell phone, just in case you need it. It's good to have...

Ever take inventory of your gear?

Some of us anglers/outdoors enthusiasts enjoy fishing for multiple species using multiple techniques. After some experience, you become a much more well rounded angler, and it also helps to understand the species better. Eventually, you'll be noticing patterns to the fish, what to use, when to...

Questions about restrictions and rules for fishing

Get the book from any baitshop, they all have them for free. Also free online if you search Ontario fishing regulations and go to the mnr site. Next step, what body of water do you want to fish? Next step, look in the guide and figure out what zone it is in. Next step, look at the fish you...

    Walk the Dog?

Another thing I dont think was mentioned. Braid is the best for this presentation IMO, and one really good reason is that it floats. Fluoro is super dense, and sinks like a rock, and mono sinks pretty fast too. That really effects the presentation in a bad way

    Walk the Dog?

Usually isn't an issue. I know it's popular belief, and it def. happens with certain fish (trout), but bass and even moreso, pike, don't really give a darn. The "walk the dog" presentation is a reaction approach, and fish are generally right there to attack it, or there rising for mid depth or...

    Walleye Closer

All in all, the kids landed 10 walleye in about 2 hours, and a 40" pike. That pike wanted to swim though, so we never got pics. It was a super dark fish, beautiful really, the pike are finished spawning

    Walleye Closer

After dealing with funerals all week, we decided to celebrate my sons birthday a few days late. I asked him what he wanted to do today, and he said fishing!!! Atta boy, lol. I was supposed to fish a derby today, and the conditions were perfect, but I said heckwithit, lets go fishing from the...

    Walk the Dog?

Suffix 832 handles abit better and casts a bit better. But honestly, there is not too much difference. I like both. But I'm quickly becoming a fan of Tuffline Duracast braid

    An open mind for opener.

    Maybe the shutter was open???

    Walk the Dog?

It just depends, but generally 20lb Suffix 832 or 15lb PowerPro

    Walk the Dog?

Yeppers, much easier to get a good action with braid, because it has zero stretch. With mono (having some stretch) the lure is less responsive
