Wow, Howe Island is gorgeous eh, Alfie. 7 out of 8 are having a hard go of it.... hopefully that ratio can be turned around but knowing human kind I am not holding my breath. I wonder how many examples there are of those numbers actually being turned around in the world... it's like watching...

Snapping turtles and Painted turtles are on the roads this week crossing to lay their eggs on the soft shoulders. I have picked three off the road right in front of my home this week. Sadly, it appears some *%$@** !! went out of their way to run over one older Painted in front of my driveway...

i use the Eagle Fish Easy 245D8... i think it was 83 bucks actually, love it :P i put the transducer on a stick, sure you can see bait schools, limited definition... I don't chase bait balls anymore, i find structure and beat it

Male Bluntnose get "horns" on their heads as well FYI but I don't think they get to large size Horny Heads do. MacMan's pic scared the bejesus out of me when i checked it out... I thought the worms he had been using for bait had migrated to his face! :D

I use a $90, 8 double A's, portable Humminbird..... 90 bucks, does the job and in a heated hut the batteries last, i use it on my boat, my canoe, a pedal boat once :D ..... a $500 unit is sweet but this does the job in a pinch... i wanna see structure and depth. period.

Looks like it may be a Striped Shiner, a legal baitfish.... they are only found in southwestern Ontario up to west of Hamilton say, if you didn't catch it there, it is not a Striped :D

family cottage in Parry Sound District as every June I simply jig points, islands, shoals with 1/4 oz twisters and cast a crankbait.... as the weather settles this week you should have no problemo finding them on a lake, in a river connected to a lake they may be on their way back to the lake...

Some White Sturgeon populations on the US west coast are listed as "endangered" ie: local populations on some tributaries of the Columbia. Strict season, quotas etc. are in place to try to keep the White available, the fishery sustainable, to anglers who care to fish for these suffering giants...
