I have had a couple of bamboo fly rod blanks for a few years now and while I know I can pick up rings handle reel seat ,my biggest problem is the ferules for attaching each piece ,the blanks are completely unfinished apart from flaming and varnish . How do you measure the size for the ferules...

If you plan on doing mostly lake fishing with this rig you may want to consider adding a fish finder. You can find a lot of info for mounting a transducer in the hull . On my kayak I have a seperate drain hole that accepts a transducer and I just use a small hummingbird 385 model.

That will definitely have the load capacity that you want in addition to the stability. Are you planning on lake fishing or river because I think the kayak might weigh a little more than the average Kayak . Looks like a good choice for fishing .
