    Catfishing

I caught this 80 pounder in Thailand last month. Giant Mekong Catfish. Biggest fish I ever caught. It took over 30 minutes to land it. My arms were shaking when I was done.

That was great. Some nice fish there and The Pogues background music was a good choice. Thanks for sharing. It looks like the pier has an active nightlife.

Walkabout in Ancaster and Dundas area. (Cootes Paradise)

I've only lived in Hamilton for a few of years. I'm still getting to know the area. I'd never actually been down in that area before. Thanks for your replies.

Nice setup. I've seen the tripods in use on YouTube videos. I especially liked this one from Hamilton. Close to my house.

    Shimano Bait Runner

So with just 1.6oz difference in weight ..... and after another long chat with the great guys at Bill's Bait and Tackle ..... explaining my situation in depth .... the winner is ..... Stradic 4000. If I find it way too much for fishing here, It'll be my winter reel for my trips overseas.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong place. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Doh!

    Shimano Bait Runner

The bait runner feature is no big deal. I'm used to just loosening the drag like you say. I'm not likely to be buying multiple reels and the weight difference is only 2 oz. I want the large line capacity because I travel to Thailand often and when there I fish. I caught a few pacu, catfish and...

Walkabout in Ancaster and Dundas area. (Cootes Paradise)

I was out this morning walking around after my nightshift. I spotted this area at King and Olympic in Dundas. It leads into the west pond of Cootes Paradise. I saw a pretty big fish surface but wasn't sure what type it would be. Has anyone ever fished around here? What's in there? Also I...

    Shimano Bait Runner

Small world eh? Thanks for your help. Nice to see you here online. Do you think there's much of a difference between the Symetre and the Stradic as far as durability and how long they will last. I don't like throwing money away but have also learned that the poor man often buys twice. If...

Never mind it's way to big. I stopped in a shop to see it. Might be looking at the Stradic now.

    Shimano Bait Runner

I want to get a better reel. I have been using an ugly stick rod and reel combo. It has served me well but I recently had a chance to use a more expensive reel lent to me by a friend and it was much better. I usually fish for bass and pike from shore but may want to try some carp fishing this...

    Bayfront Park Fishing Advice?

To the left of the boat launch, it runs along the rail lands all the way up to the carp barrier at Cootes Paradise.

    Bayfront Park Fishing Advice?

I fish with worms and leeches down there regularly and I catch some nice bass and perch. Try taking a walk up the path on the left of the boat launch. further up the better. Lots of carp in the back right Macassa Bay. You can see that on google maps. I don't fish carp but I see tons of them...
