How did everyone do?
Nice bumping into David Kearney
It didn't seem like many people were having success. I've never seen so many fishermen on the islands.
We started off at Hanlans at 8:15AM and started casting right away.
There were 4 other fishermen on our ferry going over... and a handful of excited birdwatchers too
Bright sunny saturday with a slight breeze. Surprisingly very warm.
Noticed some weed growth, so casted towards that area. Was doing a slow retrieve and was not getting any action.
15 minutes into, I decided to jerk the xrap in an erratic way. Had a huge hit pretty far out by the weeds.
I knew once I saw the fish that it'd be the biggest one i've caught at the islands. Chibi's still beats this one by 2 inches 8)
Came out to 31 inches nose to tail.
Had two trebles in lower jaw. No blood at all... which is always a plus.
Admiring a beautiful predator.
Back into the water it belongs.
Continued our walk over to Center... there were people chucking lures EVERYWHERE. I miss those weekday fishing outings... the whole island to ourselves
Too bad they won't happen anymore.
Weather turned for the worse...it continued to get colder, which is what I think turned the fish off. Clouds rolled in and the sun disappeared. even started to rain a bit too.
We walked back to Hanlans and took the ferry back to the city at 2:30.
