With my 2005 Civic Sedan Auto I can break 600KM/ 40L gas... ONLY if I drive like slow driving old grandma.

My co-worker recently bought a used 2003 Jetta TDI after getting rid of his beater. Main reason for him was to save some money on gas. Anyways... he said he gets well over 1000km before low fuel light.
FUCK! That is near twice of what I can get.
Even with higher diesel price... it sure ain't twice the $ I pay for my gas.

I remember Consumer Reports making a report about Acura as a not very reliable car too.

VW, especially TDI have very good resell value aswell.

Dont rely on CR for anything. Wasnt it a few years ago they were accepting bribes, (in the form of stock) from Toyota?

Find an online forum such as http://www.automotiveforums.com. Look for the common TDI faults. Your best bet is the opinion of those who own them.

If I didnt have a $30k minivan payment right now, i'd serously consider the TDI.
