This is some what an update to my previous post...
5-11-08,-some-panfish-+-bonus-t685.html
I meant to take my nephew fishing the next day or two after that but I couldn't manage to bring him along.
So I finally took him out on May 17th and I wasn't sure if I was going to go because weather network said Saturday will be mostly raining. It rained the morning but afternoon was sunny... just a bit too much wind.
To quickly summarize this... I didn't catch any target fish I hoped for... Bluegill. Didn't see any crappie, didn't see any larger perch either. It just sucked! I guess that is what happens when there is another big dominant fish lurking the same area, eh? No? Yes? I don't know. Do you know? Oh well!
So here are the pictures of my nephew's first ever fishing !
(Totally forgot to bring my 5'6" UL setup, So I had to my 7'6" UL setup which was little too big for him but he managed. Lures used were: 1.5" red/yellow tube, 2.5" minnow. Duration of fishing: 1.5 hours)
His First Official Fish Of His Life! - Rockbass!
And one of many small perch he caught...
I told him we needed to go home now and "I" made a final cast for him and gave the rod to him to hold. Told him to just hold it steady but he started reeling in and what do you know... hook got snagged on one of many sunken wood in the water. So I took over the rod and tried to reel it in the line more than tried pulling it with the rod when all of sudden line is moving and big jump/splash on the water... what a surprise this was!!
My nephew caught a biggest largemouth bass I personally have seen in real world. So I gave him the rod back and I just held the back tip of the rod in case he would let it go into the water. He just kept in reeling it in holding the rod on his armpit . Gotta say... due to the cold water it sure didn't give much of a fight for it's size. Only like 3 jumps.
So here is the pictures I took as fast as I could before releasing it back to the water. (Fish looked smaller than the actually size because I could have easily fitted my fist in it's mouth.)
So here is the unofficial out of season accidental hook up by my 5 year old nephew.
(Like I've said we were only targetting for monster bluegills, perch, rockbass & crappie)

Enjoy!
