Sweet photos Dozer, makes me wonder why I live in the city. The big brookie looks like it could swallow the other one.

Great choice! Right before the black flies come out to play :) I'm pretty sure there'll be no bugs, but be prepared for them if they are there.

Be prepared for cold nights and chilly mornings also.

As for the fishing, I've only been once durng the apring and it played out exactly how Alfie put it. We caught most of our fish in water no deeper than 12 ft. usually around some sorta of structure. Worms were the ticket, hung under a float. Spinners, little crankbaits, stick baits, jigs all caught fish. The fish started hitting stuff at the surface, run a spinner high up in the column and hold on. You'll have on and off days... switch up the bait constantly. Can't help you with the scientific mumbo jumbo in terms of what turns them on and off, just keep plugging away

I opened up the stomachs of a few fsh we harvested and I found the smaller ones had tiny white water shrimp/fleas? Still squirmin'! The large ones had crayfish skeletons inside their stomachs.

5 days sounds like an epic trip, you wll have a blast. Please take photos and share your adventure :)

... and if you hate finding places like this, I don't recommend you go.

Ummmm guys don't know if you have kept up with conditions in Algonquin lately or not but quite a lot of the park has been closed because of the flooding to campsites, roads washed out etc and boil water advisory in quite a few locations.... but they are hoping for some of the campgrounds opening again for April 26th...best to check your route before you go.

I can't say I have much to add when targeting brookies. Good luck and looking forward to see some pics.

I am going to come and fish right beside you. It is simply not right for you failing to have the privilege of experiencing another mans elbows on trout opener.

Lol. Jake. We have abandoned algonquin and are going to try Jocko provincial park.
As of right now algonquin is only handing day permits!

Nice man, that could be a killer spot.

Don't forget you can camp on crown land. I find myself doing so much more than paying for parks that are over fished compared to the surrounding areas IMHO. The spot you guys are heading sound remote though...might as well be crown land lol.

Always try to be respectful when camping on crown land. I so often see messes left by people doing so, along with live trees cut down or people attacking some tree with a hatchet (this I never understand, were you bored?).

When you leave and you can't tell any difference between the spot you camped and the surrounding areas you are probably doing it right.

Always leave it better then when you found it!

Sad to say, but when I go canoeing with non-fishing friends and we find a mess, they always blame fishermen---with some justification, I might add. Nothing like pitching tents only to discover fish offal aka bear bait.

He's got a Ford Raptor souped up that he races in Bajas and rallys
Thats cool.
I was unfamiliar with Jocko, I had to google it. Looks like it will be a good area for you guys to hit up. I have spent quite a bit of time in Temagami, NW of there but mostly for Bass and Pike.
Headwaters of the Ottawa, I've always heard there can be some nice Trout around there.

Privilege?? LOL. Oh you mean the one I am going to experience Sat LOL? Actually I won't as I like to bush-whack and get pools that are at least fairly private.

Good luck Rusty and Rap. Can't wait to hear how you guys do.

Alfie.
