Hello FeodorFeodor said:Hi, I'm new here, can anyone advise a place for succker? And what is west end trib at all?
People won't be willing to share exact spots of where they find suckers because they put in a lot of legwork over the years trying to discover new places and figure out what time of the year certain species are there.
Basically, if you look at any creek starting at the mouth of Lake Ontario, there is a chance suckers entered it in April to go spawn. Sometimes they will be in big schools of two dozen and sometimes they will be sparse like 3 in one pool.
I can't say if they go up every single creek but most of the bigger creeks and rivers they do. And you also have to know if there are obstructions in the creek like a natural dam or a bunch of rocks that would prevent them from going far up north that creek.
West end trib means tributaries (rivers, creeks) that flow into Lake Ontario or even a small creek that that flows into a bigger creek or river. West end means west of Toronto so from Etobicoke to Burlington or even Hamilton area.
Time is running out for suckers. They won't be in there much longer. But the carp will come in soon after.
Consult google maps earth view. Look for narrow areas of creeks and rivers that would have kind of slow moving current. And there are deeper pockets of water that will hold suckers. But they move on a day to day basis. Also, you probably want to go when the water is clear so basically anytime where it hasn't rained for the past 3 days.
