I personally have never fished with earphones or any music but if I was in FishingNoob's position and often frequented busy areas then I'd probably want some tunes so i could turn up the good and turn down the suck.
- If you're on a body of water with a decent amount of boating activity I'd recommend against it because you want to be alert in case some guy shredding around in a twin-engine wakeboard boat isn't on the ball... Also, if you're fishing off the shore in the backwoods you might want to keep your ears open for animals or gunshots depending what season it is.
- If you're fishing a calm body of water without much motorboat activity then I don't see any issue with putting on the phones if that's how you like to enjoy your time...IMO doing so is far more respectful than blaring your music for others to hear. Last summer my friends and I paddled and protaged a few hours just to fish in peace only to be greeted by a group of people jamming to some techno. I totally support people who like to listen to their favourite tunes in the great outdoors but doing so in a way that doesn't impose your presence on others seems like the classy way to go.
Cheers!
