Anyone listen to music on ear phones while fishing?

I personally have never fished with earphones or any music but if I was in FishingNoob's position and often frequented busy areas then I'd probably want some tunes so i could turn up the good and turn down the suck.

- If you're on a body of water with a decent amount of boating activity I'd recommend against it because you want to be alert in case some guy shredding around in a twin-engine wakeboard boat isn't on the ball... Also, if you're fishing off the shore in the backwoods you might want to keep your ears open for animals or gunshots depending what season it is.

- If you're fishing a calm body of water without much motorboat activity then I don't see any issue with putting on the phones if that's how you like to enjoy your time...IMO doing so is far more respectful than blaring your music for others to hear. Last summer my friends and I paddled and protaged a few hours just to fish in peace only to be greeted by a group of people jamming to some techno. I totally support people who like to listen to their favourite tunes in the great outdoors but doing so in a way that doesn't impose your presence on others seems like the classy way to go.

Cheers!

No headphones for me. Two reasons....1) I want to hear the noises of the river, and nature. and 2) I gotta hear if something is coming at me from the woods....ie BEAR.
Tunes in camp is great though. Only noises I want to hear is the river, birds, FISH ON and oh crap a bear from my buddies.......I need the heads up.

I do listen to headphones only when...float fishing on calm water... I do this more often when carp fishing. I chum, put my bait and wait. But when I'm out casting spoons and spinners it's hard to have earphones. I always take off the phones when there's another angler close that way I can hear when he yells "fish" or if he want to chit chat

I personally wouldn't use headphones but I do sometimes use a small radio playing very quietly in the background. I especially do this when I'm drift fishing for pickerel as I'm just sitting there bouncing the bottom. But if I'm bass or pike fishing I'm usually to busy to even notice background music.

It's especially important for you since you live in alaska. You need to be able to hear bears.
