Im looking for a bait caster to match my 10-6 st.croix avid, usually fish with a center pin, but need something to take beginners out with. Any suggestions for a nice easy to handle and smooth bait caster?

He said that he wants a baitcaster for his rod that he usually uses with his pin. Spinning/pin rods don't work with a baitcaster.

I use an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5600 C3 for floating too, works well with the free spool and you will never run out of line on it either.

I don't reccomend you take out beginners with a baitcaster. A spinning reel would be much more user friendly.

float fishing with a baitcaster is simple, click and plop into water, catch fish, repeat. Enjoy

Is it a spinning rod or a casting rod?

Sorry I should have been more specific it's the avid 10-6' casting rod! I had him on a spinning reel earlier this season and it was to difficult for him to get a natural float so I figured a bait caster!

No problem bro, unfortunately I disagree, so I suppose we will have to agree to disagree... LOL!

your gonna need a baitcasting rod or a trigger rod as some say its going to be hard with a spinning but its your choice really,

I would try a round casting reel such as the calcuttas from shimano. I started float fishing with a baitcaster and it was the Calcutta gt models. You really need to back off on the tension knob to get a proper drift. I deal for heavier flows water not frog water.
