Bast Bait Ever!!

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

If somebody knocked me out with a rusty hammer, blind-folded me and dropped me off of the shore of some unknown lake/pond/river and told me to catch a (real) fish, i think i would first tie on a Silver Mepps Aglia #2 and start covering water.

You can sit around with a worm all day and not cover much water, waiting for the fish to come to you...(*with the exception of river fishing - id use a worm)

A spinner lets you cover water and get reactions out of a variety of territorial and aggressive fish. You wont have to worry about shaking off pumpkinseed or bullhead all day.

Worm for sure. Use it in different depths for different fishes!
And a small spinner would work for most of the predators.
Good luck!

im gonna blow ur mind here guys how about a mepps with a worm.....if spinner is good and worm is good then this should double up ur chances no?

Live bait wise, my first one is the
1:OLD DEW WORMS,
2: Minnows
3: Leech / bloodsuckers.

AS for Lure

1: Spinning Mepps type Lure (#3 is a good size)
2: Crank-bait Minnow Lure (3" works well, normal minnow pattern)
3: Twister-tail and Jig ( I like bright White and Green in Stain water, and Dark Colors in Clear Water AKA Blacks, Browns ECT...)
4: Other SOft Plastics

not to be simple but I think it depends on the fishing pressure and ,more so the experiences the fish have had under these circumstances. We may all know the stories or have lived out "wilderness" areas and the ease of getting something to bite.Heavily fished waters provide mature fish with enough information to reflexively avoid forms they have "bit" in the past that do not favor well to them surviving or more to the point scare the hell out of them. Many fisherman believe that presentation is key, and I have heard and experienced often something presented well that is different from the bad experiences .I think that trends of bait are more created by companies by and for them to appease the fisherman more than the fish.If because it works (because it is different for the fish) then it is positive until the fish stock have seen it time and time again with no advantage for survival ....then they will look for something different...many have caught salmon on chunks of sponge and others I have read resident trout on almost bare hooks !!???Sorry I guess I didn't answer your question ,but instead posed another one.
