The bear would eat the salmon's flesh and drop it and catch another one and do the same thing. Poor fish. I have seen some salmon on their redds with huge bites from their backs and they just keep on kicking. Usually around now you see a lot of dead fish with the tops of their heads eaten. The bears go for their brains. A lot of salmon on the banks with out parts of their heads. The best trout fishing is now but the stench of dead salmon sometimes is over whelming.
