I catch both white crappie and black crappie here in Niagara and I find the whites to be larger on average, having said that, the Ontario record black crappie once came from my neck o the woods. I also find that white crappie spawn earlier and are more of a "loner" fish in the summer than black crappies. I do catch some whites each year that push 15 inches. A large black crappie for me here is 10 inches.

yes black crappie it is white crappie are pretty rare in ontario and have a more southerly distribution... it was taken on a jiggy bugger centerpinning with 3lb leader by far not my pb

thought I would post a pic of a white crappie from my backyard for all to see, I forget that the white crappie isn't found widely through our wonderful province. Love em!

Yes, I caught a few on the weekend, and some blacks, but I still have that pic of your giant black in my head.... my god eh that's a nice fish
